NNIA-NNAK Annual Nurses Quiz in Kenya
The NNAK (National Nurses Association of Kenya) launched an annual quiz in May 2015 for nurses across the Nairobi region. Such was the success that, in 2016, the NNIA partnered with the NNAK to host the 2nd annual quiz, and the quiz name “NNIA-NNAK” was created. This partnership made it possible for the NNIA to hold preliminary stages of the quiz from five other regions: Nairobi, Mombasa, Eldoret, Kisumu, Mt. Kenya and Nakuru regions. This helped attract more interest and the number of participants for 2016 shot up to 621 healthcare professionals.
The 2016 quiz grand finale was held at the Sarova Panafric Hotel, Nairobi, Kenya on 27 May. 3rd place went to Coast Provincial General Hospital, defending champions Aga Khan Hospital came 2nd, and Nakuru War Memorial Hospital walked away with the coveted first place trophy.
Special thanks to Prof. Frederik Were, professor in paediatrics, the Dean at School of Medicine at University of Nairobi and NNIA board member; and Ms. Winnie Shena NNAK chairperson for agreeing to the partnership. It will see more nurses improving their nutritional knowledge by making use of the great platform created by NNIA website.
The dates for the annual quiz are set to commemorate International Nurses’ Week and, for 2017, participation is being extended to east African countries.
