Empowering Over A Thousand Paramedics With Nutrition Knowledge In Nigeria
A collaboration between NNIA and relevant state chapters of National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives saw the implementation of a series of nutrition workshops aimed at furthering the understanding of the science of nutrition of Health Care Professionals. The workshops tackled nutrition and health issues pertaining to the critical 1st 1 000 days of life. This is in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals and the Nestlé Nutrition Institute Africa (NNIA) vision that aims to improve nourishment and health in communities across Africa.
The resource persons were HCPs with a passion for sharing their experiences and knowledge with colleagues. The training took place in 5 locations: Abeokuta, Ogun state; Kano; Abuja; Owerri and Ilorin, with over 500 paramedics (Nurses / Midwives / Primary Health / CHEWs) taking part. The workshops received excellent feedback, providing good motivation to continue this initiative in other territories across Nigeria.
Science-based games emphasising good nutrition in the 1st 1 000 days provided an extremely engaging platform for participating HCPs.
Certificates of participation were presented
